New year, new wardrobe

Welcoming the year of the rooster, most of us also take the opportunity to spring clean our homes, the kid's wardrobes.

Staying true to bringing in quality, unique designs in comfortable material for your kids, we launched many new brands including Sea Apple, a home grown brand carrying organic cotton and designs for the festive season, Kate Quinn, a renowned US brand for their range of refreshing prints and organic cotton material, and Little XO Kings, a street wear brand from the US. 

With increasing demand for twinning amongst siblings, we have put together a few looks for you.

For this look, we went for pastel shades for both Aiden and Ava. Ava is dressed in Sea Apple modern cheongsam with our new pompom hair clip, while Aiden is dressed in a Blue Gradient Shirt and jogger pants.

The 2016 Autumn Winter collection from Huxbaby is all about minimalist fashion for your little ones.

Tips on kids photography: Snap happy!

What's tougher than taking photos of a kid?

Taking photos of two kids at the same time! It is almost mission impossible especially when doing it alone.

You'd never be sure of how it will turn out to be, and here's some advice:

1) Go with the flow. As much as you try to give instructions on where to stand, how to pose, it will rarely turn out the way you want it. Forget about top models. 

2) Bring snacks, lots of it. If they can be in theme and included in the photos, that's even better. Otherwise bring mini size snacks so that they won't be distracting in the photos. Don't try to take the snack away for a 'clean shot', it won't happen. You will end up with teary eyes and angry fits.

3) Say something funny like, 'Look at her mouth, she has got ice cream all over!' instead of 'Look into her eyes....' to achieve the pose you are striving for. Kids love exaggeration and funny actions/ remarks from you.

4) A brightly lit area would be great for photos, think outdoors, greenery or plain walls. Look closely in the vicinity as you may not need to travel far to get the right backdrop. Light, natural light always do wonders.

Of course, these are the photos that make it to the blog. Do not lose heart if you do not get any perfect photos. Often I love the photos not making the cut, as they share real emotions and sweet moments between the kids.

Minimalist fashion for kids

Black has always been the dominant color in my wardrobe. Working in the beauty industry for ten years, where the dress code is mostly black. Black is also the comfort color to go to on days I feel fat, and a safe color for an outing with the kids where spills and stains are inevitable.

Chasing dreams

Unveiling our new store at Suntec City Mall, and really happy to see our dream unfolding right before us. Love the way Daddy Darren puts it, Amazing things happen when you are chasing dreams. Took just one month to go from 'Should we take up this little unit?' to 'Hello Suntec!'

I definitely hope the amazing continues.

Sweat, blood, tears literally in the process of opening this store and I am happy to have friends, customers, overseas visitors come up to us, sharing how they love our store concept and the products we carry. Thank you. These little things keep us going.

An interesting observation - kids head straight into our store, sometimes ahead of their parents, to the play area. Pleasantly surprised, parents can spend time browsing in store and have to wait for their kids to finish playing before they leave! Wish more stores were like this, so I need not have to negotiate with Aiden on spending ten more minutes shopping in a (non toy) store. He would be the one negotiating for ten more minutes of play in the store.

It's hot and humid weather for most of the days in Singapore. For some respite from the heat, we enjoy playing in the water with the kids whenever we get the chance to.

However, the harmful rays from the scorching sun had me thinking twice some days and I slather on sunblock on the kids before bringing them to the pool.

We find the fabric of the pool shoes soft and flexible, fitting snugly around your child's feet. It will leave a slight mark on those chubby feet but they closely mimics barefoot walking so it is maximum comfort and flexibility for your child. In fact, they are so light weight, Aiden wore them into the pool and back home.

Some tips on cleaning:
Hand wash or machine wash gently using cold water and a mild detergent and leave to hang dry. Do not soak them and keep them out of direct sunlight.
